Dear Parents/Guardians, and Community Members,
Happy New Year. I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday break with friends and family. It’s good to welcome our students back and see them working hard in the classroom.
Just before the holiday break, our Bleshman and Millburn Regional Day School students were treated once again to a visit by Holiday Express. This exceptional volunteer organization has been providing music and cheer to schools, shelters, soup kitchens, and even prison inmates from November through Christmas Eve for the past twenty years. NBC Senior Correspondent Pat Battle attended this year’s event at Bleshman to give the Holiday Express volunteers some much-deserved TV coverage. You can link to the video on our main page: http://bcss.bergen.org.
In late January we will be hosting an Open House for local district Directors, Supervisors, and Case Managers for our newest initiative, Career Crossroads. This shared-time vocational program is designed to prepare high school students for entry-level positions in Retail Sales and Customer Service and Hospitality and Food Service, as well as provide support for successful entry and advancement in their chosen field. Participants have the opportunity to obtain National Professional Certification in Customer Service, National Professional Certification in Sales, line-level Hospitality Certification from the Educational Institute, and a certificate of completion in Food Service Preparation and Safety. The Open House will take place on January 30 beginning at 8:30 a.m. at our Paramus Campus.
