Welcome to the BCSS Nova North Program.
. The goal of the NOVA North program is to provide a supportive environment that allows students to function successfully in a traditional school setting. At NOVA North we follow Emerson’s curriculum while implementing the child’s IEP. Support services and school based counseling are available to provide an emotionally safe and secure environment, enhance student’s self-esteem, as well as help students efficiently handle their interpersonal, emotional and behavioral issues. Some students choose to participate in extra-curricular activities including Band, Chorus, Theater Arts and sports. NOVA students are eligible to participate in internships in their junior and senior years. A NOVA guidance counselor assists students with all aspects of postsecondary planning. Many NOVA North graduates transition successfully to College or Career Training programs. Our highly trained, experienced staff utilizes a number of strategies, tools and high interest activities to ensure both academic and social success. Effective communication between NOVA staff, Emerson staff and parents ensures that everyone works towards a mutual goal-the student’s success.
