We would like to welcome you to another fun and safe school year at Brownstone. As you know every year we invite the parents to join us for meetings, workshops and other events to help raise funds for the students. Unfortunately, the past couple of years were not too productive for fund raising; therefore, we were not able to provide your son/daughter with money to purchase things at the Book Fair this year.
We need everyone’s assistance and cooperation to help the PTA be more active at Brownstone. Only through your active cooperation are we able to raise funds and plan activities for our children during the school year.
We need assistance with the following upcoming events:
Please volunteer and get involved with Brownstone, a place where children matter. Thank you for your assistance and cooperation.

Fast Track To Reading: Brownstone School offers a remedial program for the most severely learning-disabled students in grades two through five. These students function on a Pre-Primer to first-grade level. Three Literacy support teachers who are wilson trained provide remediation for these students in 12-week cycles. This will be in addition to the 120-minute daily Literacy block. In addition Orton-based reading program will be used for a 30-minute period, four days per week. The fifth day will be a technology-infused half hour incorporating the PAF skills also being taught.
Students will be given pre- and post-assessment. Continuation in the program will be determined at the end of the cycle. Our goal is to raise reading levels to the point where the child can exit the program and take advantage of the regular reading program with differentiated instruction and in-class intervention and support.
During the 12-week cycle, the literacy support teachers will collaborate with classroom teachers to coordinate materials for centers in the classroom.
Mid-year, all of our students will be assessed by their teacher utilizing the WRAT4 assessment and Learnia to determine their progress.
Presently we are implementing the foundation Wilson Reading program to enhance student achievment for all grade levels.
