Special Announcement - Monday December 17, 2012\r\n Teacher Guidelines for Crisis Response
Bergen County Special Services delivers special education programs to selected students with disabilities residing within Bergen County and from towns and municipalities throughout northern New Jersey. In order to ensure the consistent delivery of high quality preschool through high school academic curricula to all students in the Preschool, Autistic, Behavioral, Communications, and Life Skills Continuums, Bergen County Special Services’ curriculum is directly based on the New Jersey Department of Education Core Curriculum Content Standards. Course objectives are ranked high, medium or low as deemed essential for success in life after high school. Literacy, math and science priority rankings are based on the results of the Curriculum Survey of Essential Skills conducted by the International Center for Leadership in Education. Each individual student’s IEP guides the scope and sequence of instruction. Certified instructors utilize an array of teaching strategies with appropriate accommodations and modifications. Assessment data is analyzed as each student progresses along the continuum of skills. Students are expected to participate in academic content on grade level to the highest extent possible.
