About UsThe Educational and Assistive Technology Group of Bergen County Special Services and Bergen County Technical Schools is committed to providing the latest and best adaptive technology services. We view the creation of technology solutions to be a team sport that values all members equally including the student, family, teachers, therapists and adaptive technology staff. We are further committed to professional growth for ourselves and those that work with students who are using adaptive technology tools. Finally, we are committed to sharing our resources with the community and hope you will share yours with us. How can assistive technology services help the student user get started? Any service that directly assists a person with a disability in selecting, obtaining, or using an assistive technology device is involved in AT service. Several specialists can fulfill crucial purposes throughout the process, and once the device(s) has been acquired and implemented. The adaptive computer specialist helps organize the communication evaluation, provides on-going services and device training, facilitates device rentals, and helps make workshop presentations. The instructional technology specialist provides technology lessons that correlate to the New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards (NJCCS) by grade level; works along with teachers to integrate new technology into current lesson plans; uses technology to help meet the assistive technology considerations described by students; organizes workshops and training for staff and students on new hardware and software; implements assistive technology evaluations; provides on-going services; and facilitates software training. |
