Piermont South

The Piermont South program collaborates with the Division of Family Guidance and the Juvenile Justice System to rehabilitate and educate struggling students who might not otherwise stay in school.  The program provides a small very structured learning community with a multitude of behavioral and social/emotional supports as well as regular counseling. A reward based individual management system is followed to encourage positive behavior.  Academics focus on core courses with a strong emphasis on addressing literacy needs. In addition the collaborating staff offers electives and specialized presentations intended to meet the interests and needs of students.  The program also places an emphasis on career counseling, coupled with diverse presentations given throughout the academic year by professionals in various fields.  Additionally, representatives from career based campuses throughout the Bergen County visit the program and address student's interests and concerns regarding post secondary education.  Internship or employment opportunities are offered whenever possible.
