Dear Parents, Guardians, and Community Members,
Spring has arrived, and as we return from celebrating the Passover and Easter holidays, we know that soon we will be ushering in the season of graduations and moving-up ceremonies. From our students in high school programs to our kindergarteners at BELA, it will be a time to look forward to new adventures and experiences even as there is sadness in saying good-bye to old friends. I look forward to attending as many of these ceremonies as I possibly can to celebrate with graduating students and their families and to wish them the best of luck in all their future endeavors.
We are looking ahead to another busy summer at Special Services. Students attending Extended Year Programs will have opportunities to engage in academic and technical education programs combined with hands-on learning projects and educational field trips. Our CAPE Center will again host the ABA Summer Institute Workshop Series in July for education professionals throughout Bergen County and the surrounding area. The Westwood Elks will be sponsoring a Carnival and Barbeque for our clients and staff at the Adult Day Program in Paramus. Last year’s event included carnival games, music provided by a live DJ, and delicious foods. We are so grateful to the wonderful volunteers who have agreed to return this year to host another spectacular event.
On behalf of the administration, faculty, and staff of Bergen County Special Services, I wish everyone a relaxing summer spent with family and friends. It will be here before we know it!
Howard Lerner, Ed.D.
