fishing-tripMs. Gentile’s Middle School class traveled to the Englewood Boat Basin for a fun day of fishing! The local fisherman from the Hudson Valley Fishing Association greeted us with smiles! The kind fishermen eagerly mentored our students and staff!

We learned how to hold a fishing pole, bait a hook with worms, cast a line, reel in a fish and unhook our catch. We learned safety skills. For example, before casting a line, we had to look to make sure our friends were not in the way because the hooks are very sharp. Our class learned fishing takes time and a lot of patience!

Our classmate, Ava was the first one to catch a fish. She was so happy and proud!! We caught two fish that day and released them back into the river. It was a great way to relax and enjoy   the beautiful, sunny day!

We enjoyed a picnic lunch in the park, and we also learned that Mr. Scott is afraid of bees J!!

We thank Mr. Mortorano, Mr. Rick, Mr. Scott and the Fisherman Club for a great experience along the Hudson River!
